Ngākau Whānau
Kia whārikihia tō whānau i a koe.
Ngākau Whanau is the connection through whakapapa to Ranginui rāua ko Papatūānuku, symbolised by the pou tuarongo (back wall pillar) of the whare. The veil between life and death signifies the regeneration of life through birth and represents the umbilical connection and memory links to tūpuna that can never be severed.
