Ngākau Manaaki
Kia akiaki te mana o te tangata.
Ngākau Manaaki is the connection through whakapapa to Ranginui rāua ko Papatūanuku, symbolised by the pou mua (front pillar) of the whare. It intersects with the Ngākau Kaitiaki and upholds the tekoteko (carved ancestral figure) that represents the graduating akonga as a sentinel. The graduating akonga will protect and enhance both their own mana and integrity as well as that of others.
