A collection of our best times and experiences!

At Cargill School we aim to provide the best experiences that our children can be excited about and celebrate successes.

Our favourite times are when we value,  support and encourage each other to keep doing our very best.

We know that if we work hard then we will reach our goals.

Take a look at our "golden moments" and fun filled activities that we know you will enjoy looking at as we did.

Look out for 2025 because here we come!

Kapahaka 2024

Cultural Festival 2024

At the beginning of 2024, a group of keen writers and composers began to collect a range of ideas for our Kapaphaka performance in Term 3. Led by our senior students, the team of both younger peers. We had two goals in mind, was to compose a Kura Waiata and Kura Haka.

At the time, the government was making changes to our Lunches and was intending to either cut the budget or complete reconsider providing them, especially for our older students at Intermediate and high schools. This haka provides a word of advise, to avoid cutting the student lunches (tuākana) lunches. There were other messages to make available to our whanau affordable housing, food and petrol through our own haka.

The second task, was to write a waiata kura in a positive light and favourite parts of school that the tamariki liked coming to school - to be with friends, have fun learning and playing.

Another item was "Poi atu taku poi" written by an ancestress Erenora Taratoa from Ngāti Raukawa. This was the basis of our intensive Te Reo Māori programme. The language is using traditional expression and we learnt that waiata can be used to celebrate, remember events, people and places or sending a strong message.

The other reason was to build our knowledge of waiata, haka, chant and movement for the end of the year school production to portray the Waikato Wars.
